We meet every month

You get a secure client portal for documents and reports — and the same person behind it every single month.

The Real Difference

Most bookkeepers stop at the report. That’s where I start.

Accurate books are the baseline every bookkeeper should meet. The return on your investment comes from what happens after the books close — sitting down together, reading the numbers, and deciding what to do about them. That is the premium service you’re actually buying, and it stays affordable because it’s designed for small service-based businesses rather than corporate finance departments.

What every bookkeeper should do

The foundation — handled without you asking

This is the table stakes work. It gets done accurately and on schedule every month, and you shouldn’t have to think about any of it.

  • Record and review every business transaction
  • Reconcile bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts
  • Organize and store documentation in your client portal
  • Run payroll and record it correctly
  • Track contractors and issue 1099s
  • Keep payroll and bookkeeping compliance current
  • Keep the books tax-ready all year, not just in April
Where the real value is

Bookkeeping advisory — a monthly conversation about your business

Clean books that nobody explains to you are just tidy history. Every engagement includes a monthly advisory session where we review your financial reports together so you can make real management decisions with confidence — the highest-return part of your investment, included as standard rather than sold as an upgrade.

  • We sit down together every month

A scheduled working session where we open your profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow side by side and I walk you through them line by line until they make sense.

  • You leave with decisions, not homework

Can you afford to hire? Is that service line actually profitable? Should you raise prices? We answer the questions in front of you using your own numbers, not industry averages.

  • You see problems while they're still small

Margin slipping, receivables aging, a subscription quietly doubling — patterns show up in monthly review long before they show up in your bank balance.

  • Your books hand off clean at tax time

I understand the tax side well enough to keep your books structured the way a preparer needs them — income and expenses categorized correctly, owner draws separated from payroll, contractor payments tracked for 1099s, and documentation already attached. Come tax season your preparer gets a clean set of books instead of a shoebox and a list of questions.

A clear boundary: this is bookkeeping advisory, not tax advice. I don’t prepare returns or tell you how to file — that’s your CPA or tax preparer’s work, and it should be. What I do is make sure the books they receive are accurate, organized, and genuinely ready, so their time goes toward tax strategy instead of cleanup.

Services

Bookkeeping built around how service businesses actually run

Advisory is included in every engagement, and the compliance work below is handled without you having to chase it. It’s a premium service kept affordable by focusing on one platform and one type of client — choose the support you need now and add more as you grow, all handled by the same person who knows your business.

Every engagement also keeps your books tax-ready throughout the year, so tax season becomes a hand-off rather than a scramble. I understand the tax side well enough to structure your records the way a preparer needs them — though filing your return remains their work, not mine.

How It Works

Four simple steps to books you can finally trust

Getting started takes about an hour of your time total. From there, we handle the details and keep you informed.

  1. 01

    Free Consultation

A relaxed 30-minute call to understand your business, your current books, and what’s been keeping you up at night. No pitch, no pressure.

  2. 02

    Books Review & Investment Quote

We review your actual records and quote two numbers: a one-time upfront investment to bring your books current and build a solid accounting foundation, then your flat monthly rate.

  3. 03

    Foundation & Onboarding

This is where the upfront investment goes to work: catching up prior months, structuring your QuickBooks Online file properly, and setting up a monthly rhythm that takes minutes of your time.

  4. 04

    Monthly Clarity

Reconciled books and plain-English reports every month, plus a short summary of what your numbers are telling you. Records stay tax-ready as we go, so year-end is a clean hand-off to your preparer rather than a scramble.

Your Investment

A premium service priced for real small businesses

Good bookkeeping is not an expense line to minimize — it’s an investment that pays back in decisions you make with confidence, penalties you never incur, and hours you get to spend on the work you actually love. Here is exactly how that investment is structured.

Step one

Foundation investment

A one-time upfront investment brings your books current and builds your accounting system properly — clean opening balances, a chart of accounts designed for service businesses, and every account reconciled. You only pay for this once.

Step two

Affordable flat monthly rate

From there you're on one predictable monthly investment covering your bookkeeping and your advisory session. No hourly billing, no surprise invoices, and priced to be genuinely affordable for a small service business.

What you get

A premium service, not a commodity

You work directly with the owner, in QuickBooks Online, with a monthly advisory session included as standard. That level of attention is normally reserved for far larger companies — here it's simply how the service works.

Every quote is tailored, and you’ll know both numbers before you commit

Your foundation investment and your monthly rate both depend on transaction volume, how many accounts you carry, and whether payroll is involved. We review your actual books first, then quote you honestly — no packages you don’t need and no pressure to say yes.

About The Narrow Way

A bookkeeper who understands both your ledger and your calling

The Narrow Way began with a simple observation: hardworking small business owners across Orange County were making major decisions on guesswork because nobody had ever handed them clear, current numbers. Talented plumbers, coaches, cleaners, contractors, and consultants were building real businesses while their books sat months behind.

We exist to close that gap. Every month your accounts are reconciled, your transactions are categorized correctly, and you receive reports written in language you can actually use. When something looks off, you hear about it from us before it becomes a problem — not in a panic the week before your tax deadline.

But the part clients tell us matters most is the conversation. Once your books are closed, we sit down together and actually read them: where the profit came from, where it leaked out, what the trend line is doing, and what you should do about it this month. That is the difference between having a bookkeeper and having an advisor who happens to keep your books with precision.

That same understanding extends to the tax side of the picture. I’m not a tax preparer and I don’t give tax advice — but I know enough about how returns get built to keep your books structured the way a preparer actually needs them. So when tax season comes, you hand off a clean, closed, documented set of books rather than a year of guesswork, and your CPA spends their time on strategy instead of cleanup.

Our name comes from Matthew 7:13–14. The narrow way is the harder, more careful path — and that is exactly how financial records should be kept. Precision over shortcuts. Truth over convenience. Faithfulness in the small things, because the small things are what your business is actually built on.

We work with a limited number of clients on purpose, so you always speak directly with the person handling your books. Your work matters, your family depends on it, and your numbers deserve that level of attention.

Service area

An Orange County bookkeeper you can actually sit down with

I’m based in Costa Mesa and work with small service-based businesses within about 25 miles — across Orange County and into the Long Beach edge. That radius is deliberate. The monthly advisory session is the heart of what I do, and it works best when we can meet face to face rather than trading emails.

In person, locally

Monthly review meetings at your office or a spot nearby, anywhere inside the service area.

Or by video, if you prefer

Some owners would rather keep the hour and skip the drive. The advisory session works either way — your call, every month.
